General Motors Retail Inventory Management (RIM) Program
The General Motors Retail Inventory Management (RIM) is a parts ordering and stock replenishment program which will automatically calculate stocking levels for General Motors RIM-controlled parts.
Parts managers select parts to be controlled by RIM, and GM’s RIM system establishes stocking levels based upon dealerships sales history (Frequency Classification Code) for each part and other criteria (Strta Code) established by General Motors. RIM will automatically order/replenish part inventory for RIM controlled parts daily.
We recommend that the parts manager place a heavy stock order the day before the RIM “Go Live” date. This will be last DRO order on the old ordering system. The first RIM order will not be received until the parts manager works the RIM suggested stocking list. (Be sure that Excel is installed on the parts manager's computer so that the spreadsheet can be downloaded from the RIM Web site).
Bob Pearson Enterprises consults with parts managers to establish sourcing based on the RIM program. This includes establishing sources for RIM-controlled parts as well as non-RIM-controlled parts. Special order procedures can be established to ensure that your dealership takes advantage of RIM CSO return policies. Pricing policies can be established to ensure the dealer’s maximum return on investment. READ MORE
